The Commonwealth Human Ecology Council (hereafter referred to as CHEC) acknowledges the right to protection of personal data, in accordance with Commonwealth principles and values and international best practice and respecting local law.
Collection of personal information
The privacy and security of your personal information is of utmost importance to CHEC. We will protect and respect your privacy at all times.
Online forms
As part of our efforts to ensure privacy of data received from our online forms, your details will be held securely for the purpose of updating you on our activities, processing your job application and for the delivery of our press releases and newsletters. Your details will not be passed to any third party.

Job/Volunteer/Trustee and Governing Board Member Opportunities
Any information provided to us via a job, volunteer or trustee application submission will be held securely and will not be shared with any third party. Any subsequent communications from us will relate only to the opportunity applied for.
Donations
Donations made to CHEC online are securely taken and processed through Stripe. For information relating to Stripe’s data collection please see their privacy policy.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII Data)
We may collect non-PII Data whenever you interact with our website.
Non-PII data may include your website browser name, the type of device you are using and other technical information about your means of connection to our website, such as the operating system and your internet service provider, etc.
We may use this information to understand how you, and you and others as members of a group, use the services and resources provided on our website. This can help us optimise visitor’s future experience of our website.
How long do we keep your information for?
If you have subscribed to our newsletter and emails, all of your electronic contact information will be kept in our secure database until such time as you wish us to delete it or ‘forget’ you.
Any other information that you’ve provided will be retained for as long as necessary. This assessment needs to be made on a case by case basis, and will include assessment of factors such as the need to keep financial or employment records.
Your rights over your information
You can ask us what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate. For this purpose you can send an email to contact@checinternational.org with the subject “Subject Access Request”. You can also ask us to provide you with a copy of the information we hold and to stop using your information for a period of time.
