SIDS Conference in Samoa Round-up

CHEC recently participated in the UN Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Conference in Samoa, putting on a Side Event entitled "A Commonwealth for the Blue Economy: Sustainable Oceans and Fisheries" to consider practical ways of sustaining oceans and fisheries in the Commonwealth's SIDS. The panel discussed how engaging with communities and resource-users in an ecosystem-led approach can lead to a successful Blue Economy, with fisherfolk involved in technical assessment and governments ceding authority to their local communities in the management of marine reserves.Read more about the Commonwealth and the Blue Economy in Outreach.
