"COP26 - The Political Conundrum" by Mark Robinson

This week we've been sharing some excellent articles relating to the importance of COP26. For example, did you know that a healthy environment is now considered a human right? Similarly, we shared an interesting post on animal perspectives heading into COP26. However, today we are sharing something slightly different. An article by one of our own at CHEC.

Therefore, it's with great pride that CHEC can share that our Chair, Mark Robinson, has published an opinion piece on The Round Table's opinion page. The piece is entitled "COP26 - The Political Conundrum" and it discusses the massive challenge that the 54 states of the Commonwealth will face at the COP26 negotiating table.

We've included a small snippet below:

"As mentioned, as the Commonwealth has so many countries on the front line of the climate change battle, its collective voice must be heard. Had CHOGM been held in Kigali, Rwanda, that would have presented a great opportunity but COVID-19 put paid to that. So the voice of the smaller countries need solid support from the larger and financially important ones ones such as Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. The collective voice of Africa is also most important including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa."
