COP26 Daily Review: Saturday 6th November
With the weekend's arrival, COP26 carried on into the weekend. The weekend has seen a slightly reduced schedule with Sunday being considered a rest day by many. However, there's still plenty of events going on that you can join in person and online.
Saturday saw events taking place across all the pavilions. There was no rest for the CHEC team though, with CHEC Board Member and Trustee, Jane Samuels, attending multiple events, discussions and pavilions throughout the day. One of particular note was the "Ocean Acidification in the Polar Regions: Poles Apart, but Not Polar Opposites" Event organized by the British Antarctic Survey. The alarming event stated that the tipping point for one location will be reached in 7 years!
Other events attended by Jane included:
- Official negotiations on Adaptation as an observer
- The SDGs Pavilion
- Nature and Land Use in Delivery of the Paris Goals
- Urban LEDS - Urban Content in 2nd Round of NDCs – Initial Findings
Other events attended by the CHEC team included one at the Rio Convention Pavilion. The event was titled "One Health: Advancing One Health through the Articulation of Linkages Between Biodiversity, Climate Change, Desertification and Health". While we were also at the "Working With Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to Deliver the Paris Goals: Panel Discussion" Event.
